Wendy Jones was a reporter and presenter for the Midlands-based independent television current affairs show ATV Today from 1970 to 1980. In 1975, she received an invitation to develop and host Ladies Night, an audience-participation program for women. She also made appearances on ATV’s monthly magazine show Platform for Today.
But her dream was to work in television, so in 1964 she went straight to the top of the BBC’s London broadcast department. As it happened, one of his employees was taking a maternity leave, which is how she was able to get her start as a radio news anchor for The World at One and The World this Weekend.
She split her time between London and her Warwickshire home once her interim contract was extended to a permanent one.
